Amy’s Story

Amy’s story with Jesus began when she was five years old. She remembers realizing that she didn’t want to be separated from God—and that if He truly loved her that much, she wanted to belong to Him. She placed her faith in Jesus, and during her teenage years at First Baptist Church, that relationship deepened. She was baptized and began building her life around God’s Word.

At eighteen, Amy began serving through church day camps and children’s ministry. She loved teaching children because they were so open and eager to hear about Jesus and the stories of the Bible. They were like little sponges, and Amy wanted to give them as much of God’s Word as she could. What began as a comfortable place to serve while she was still nervous speaking with adults became a lifelong desire to help people understand truth.

Amy has served in the church ever since—through children’s ministry, hospitality, coffee, and media. Today, as Lighthouse’s Media Director, she uses pictures, words, technology, and storytelling to help people see something they may not have seen before.

Amy believes many people don’t fully understand how much God loves them. He isn’t waiting to beat them over the head for their mistakes; He genuinely wants what is best for them. She has found that keeping God’s Word close provides the wisdom to recognize a troubled road and the truth needed to find the right one.

Because Amy has personally experienced deep hurt within the church, she does not dismiss or minimize anyone’s wounds. What she values about Lighthouse is its willingness to look honestly at someone’s pain and say, “We see your wounds. We acknowledge them, and we are here to help.”

Amy is the mother of one daughter, Annalise. She loves bright colors, meaningful conversations, hearing people’s stories, and a good cup of coffee. She wants every person who walks through Lighthouse’s doors to know they are seen, welcomed, and deeply loved by God.
